Nicola Moon was born in 1952 in Bristol to Aberdonian parents. She remembers an idyllic childhood of sunshine, adventures and, of course, books. She read voraciously and loved bedtime stories. Her father introduced her to his favourites – Eyeore and Tigger. She went to Bristol University and gained a BSc in microbiology and then worked as a laboratory research assistant for a year in London. Deciding this was not the job for her, Nicola then moved to Wiltshire, married and started a new career as a secondary school science teacher which she found very rewarding. When her two children came along Nicola became a full-time mum. She had always enjoyed writing and the stimulus of writing for her own children prompted her to try writing for publication. Her first picture book was published in 1994 and to date she has had over a dozen titles published, including LUCY'S PICTURE, SOMETHING SPECIAL and MY MOST FAVOURITE THING and for beginner readers, JJ RABBIT AND THE MONSTER. |
